Hey! I’m Liant (lee-ahn);
Thanks for stopping by!
I have a background in mechanical engineering, but my passions extend far beyond that. I’m a big advocate for free and open-source software (FOSS) and love exploring how different cultures think and solve problems.
If you see me, I’m probably tinkering with my Linux setup or productivity system to optimize my workflow, learning a foreign language, or diving into sci-fi and history books. I truly believe in using rigorous thinking to optimize not just our computers, but our lives.
Currently, I am obsessively researching three core areas:
- The Mechanics of Progress: How do countries actually industrialize, and why do some countries succeed where others stalled? How can we accelerate technology (and AI) to actually get the flying cars and Mars hotels we were promised?
- The "Good Life": In a secular age, we still desperately need a philosophy for resilience. I’m exploring how we can use ancient wisdom to stick to our goals, build better habits, and navigate setbacks.
- Meta-Learning: How do we improve traditional education? I want to crack the code on how to learn radically faster and master new skills efficiently.
